Después de dejar nuestra vida en Corea y vivir en Bali por 1 año, entre medio de pandemias y lo que parece ser un regreso a la normalidad, quiero compartirles un poco de mi experiencia y lo que para uds puede ser que haga valer la pena mudarse a esta increíble isla o tal vez vivir solo la experiencia de unos días de vacaciones.
Porque me fui de Corea?
Es una de las preguntas que recibo más comúnmente y es el porque decidí dejar mi vida en una ciudad tan moderna y grande como Seúl, para vivir en esta isla increíble llena de naturaleza, vida y aventuras.
La respuesta es que para ser sinceros nos aburrimos un poco de la rutina, la ciudad grande y del estilo de vida coreano que se supone por muchos “debemos seguir” y lo que terminó siendo un viaje de 6 meses, se a convertido en nuestro nuevo hogar por más de 1 año y ha sido hasta ahora una de las mejores decisiones que hemos tomado.
Surf es una de las razones principales por las que estamos aquí y aunque al principio fue difícil perder el miedo y aprenderlo, después de 6 meses de practica, puedo decir que me he enamorado de este deporte.
Creo que si tu también estas interesado en aprender a surfear o vivir la experiencia, este es uno de los mejores lugares en el mundo para hacerlo.
Desde muy buenas olas los 360 días del año para todos los niveles, agua cálida sin importar la estación, atardeceres mágicos, precios accesibles y gente amable, sonriente, siempre dispuestos a enseñarte,
este sin lugar a dudas es mi lugar recomendado.

Las playas mas únicas e increíbles no están en Bali
Digamos que finalmente llegaste a Bali y estás buscando esas playas soñadas de arena blanca, agua turquesa y formas de dinosaurio que tanto aparecen en instagram, Te cuento que en su mayoría se encuentran en una de las islas vecinas a Bali, llamada "Nusa Penida". Esta es una de las islas más populares para visitar en el país, debido a sus famosas playas "Diamond beach" o "Kelingking beach", su accesibilidad desde Bali, por medios de transporte como Ferry público en Padang bai o fast boat desde Sanur y sobre todo por actividades como snorkeling o buceo con las famosas manta rayas.

Pero si hablamos de Bali y sus playas, digamos que las playas más bonitas de la isla se encuentran en la parte sur llamada "Bukit o Uluwatu" y además de ser un excelente destino para asolearse, nadar y disfrutar de la brisa con un buen coco, desconectarte del trafico de las zonas mas concurridas, también son uno de los destinos predilectos para los surfistas que visitan la isla, muchos de ellos viviendo lejos de las zonas más pobladas por turistas como Canggu, Kuta o Seminyak, para enfocarse en lo que más les gusta hacer en uno de los mejores lugares para hacerlo.

En definitiva, uno de los motivos principales por los que elegimos Bali, es por la calidad de vida y conversión de moneda que nos da la oportunidad de vivir una vida de gustos y lujos que nunca pensamos tener en Corea, como una casa con piscina, limpieza 3 veces por semana y una gran variedad de comida super deliciosa de diferentes partes del mundo, por muy bajo precio.

Si te gusta cuidar tu cuerpo y consentirte, puedes encontrar días de spa y masajes super económicos, por mínimo $6usd la hora, tours por destinos turísticos populares como volcanes, snorkeling en playas cristalinas como Blue Lagoon, eventos culturales y mucho mas!
Pero no todo puede ser tan perfecto, verdad?
Lastimosamente todo lo que suena tan perfecto, por lo general tiene sus un partes negativas, no les puedo mentir! y es que el precio de vivir en una isla tan natural, llena de vida y aventura, tiene sus partes un poco mas salvajes o menos desarrolladas, que si eres mas una persona de ciudad, en definitiva esto te puede afectar.
Sistema médico subdesarrollado, con falencias y a veces extremadamente caro, con precios hasta 5 veces mas caros para los extranjeros, Calles saturadas en trafico y cientos de turistas extranjeros y locales visitando a diario, contaminación visual y polución creada por parte de las múltiples quemas de basura que se realizan de manera diaria por los locales o se arrojan en el mar y finalmente la taza de robos que se ha incrementado en ciertas zonas como Umalas, Seminyak y Kuta, que aunque la policía conoce al respecto, lastimosamente no hacen nada para controlarlo o proteger a las victimas.
Nosotros fuimos victimas de robo del celular de mi pareja, cuando no conocíamos de direcciones y navegábamos por Google maps mientras el manejaba la moto. lastimosamente todo fue muy repentino y los ladrones se dieron a la fuga en moto, por uno de los múltiples callejones del barrio de Umalas. lastimosamente, nunca pudimos recuperarlo.
Luego de reportarlo a la policía, gracias a un local que nos ayudo a traducir lo ocurrido, ellos no hicieron nada mas que darnos un reporte policial y hasta el momento la taza de robos ha incrementado aun mas en esa zona, sin ningún control por parte de la policía.
Cambiarias la vida de ciudad tecnológica y segura por una isla paradisiaca, con lujos y un poco de inseguridad?

Por nuestra parte hasta el momento, estamos convencidos de que tomamos la decisión correcta, y es que no es si no despertar un día en uno de los tantos increíbles hoteles de la isla, disfrutar de su diversidad gastronómica, un buen masaje y un atardecer en la playa, para enamorarse por completo de este lugar y hacer que cada pequeño mal rato, valga la pena.

Goodbye Korea, welcome to Bali!
After leaving our life in Korea and living in Bali for 1 year, between pandemics and what seems to be a return to normality, I want to share a little of my experience and what might make moving worthwhile for you to this incredible island or perhaps is better just to live the experience of a few days of vacation.
Why did I leave Korea?
It is one of the most common questions I receive and it is why I decided to leave my life in a city as modern and big as Seoul, to live on this incredible island full of nature, life and adventures.
The answer is that, to be honest, we got a little bored of the routine, the big city and the Korean lifestyle that is assumed by many to be "we must continue" and what ended up being a 6-month trip has become our new home for over 1 year now and it has been one of the best decisions we have ever made.
Surfing is one of the main reasons why we are here and although at first it was difficult to lose fear and learn it, after 6 months of practicing, I can say that I have fallen in love with this sport.
I think that if you are also interested in learning to surf or living the experience, this is one of the best places in the world to do it.
From very good waves 360 days a year for all levels, warm water regardless of the season, magical sunsets, affordable prices and friendly, smiling people, always willing to teach you, this is without a doubt my recommended place.

The most unique and incredible beaches are not in Bali
Let's say that you finally arrived in Bali and you are looking for those dream beaches with white sand, turquoise water and dinosaur shapes that appear so much on Instagram. let me tell you that they are mostly located on one of the neighboring islands of Bali, called "Nusa Penida" . Underdeveloped medical system, with shortcomings and sometimes extremely expensive, with prices up to 5 times more expensive for foreigners. streets saturated with traffic and hundreds of foreign and local tourists visiting daily, visual contamination and pollution created by the multiple burnings of garbage that are carried out daily or are thrown into the sea by the locals and finally the rate of robberies that has increased in certain areas such as Umalas, Seminyak and Kuta, that although the police know about it, unfortunately they do nothing to control it or protect the victims.

We were victims of theft of my partner's cell phone, when we did not know the addresses and we were browsing Google maps while he was driving the motorcycle. unfortunately everything was very sudden and the thieves fled on a motorcycle through one of the many alleys in the Umalas neighborhood. Unfortunately, we were never able to get it back.
After reporting it to the police, thanks to a local who helped us translate what happened, they did nothing more than give us a police report and so far the rate of robberies has increased even more in that area, without any control by from the police.
